43%
of Russians plan their income and expenses no more than one month in advance.
25% have plans for the next several months. Only 9% of Russians have given thought their plans for a longer period, such as a year or more. Of the households surveyed, only 45.1% have savings.
Russians are confident, however, that if necessary, they can always count on the help of relatives or friends. Thus, 45.6% of respondents said that at any time they could come up with 50,000 roubles from their immediate circle.
These data were obtained during the first wave of a survey called ‘A Study of Financial Behaviour and Savings Habits of the Population,’ which was conducted by ZAO Demoscope under commission by Russia’s Ministry of Finance. More details on the results of the study will be published today on the OPEC.ru website (in Russian).
