
HSE and Sultan Qaboos University: Expanding Academic and Research Partnership
In May 2026, a delegation from Sultan Qaboos University (Oman) made an official visit to HSE University. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss new forms of cooperation and partnership and to identify areas of mutual interest. Representatives of HSE’s Moscow, St Petersburg, and Nizhny Novgorod campuses spoke about their shared interest in expanding joint projects, primarily in the field of artificial intelligence—a strategic development priority for both universities.

HSE and Peking University Expand Cooperation in Civil Society Research
A seminar involving Russian and Chinese scholars on cooperation between the state and non-profit organisations was held in Beijing. Participants discussed the evolution of institutions, cooperation practices, and challenges facing the development of the non-profit sector, and also presented the results of their research. The meeting concluded with agreements to expand joint projects and academic exchanges.

Representatives of Universities Worldwide Discuss Challenges of Higher Education in the Age of AI in St Petersburg
On May 20, more than 100 delegates from 20 countries, including China, Brazil, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Qatar, and the UAE, took part in the business programme ofHSE International Partners’ Week 2026. The key sessions of the large-scale forum, dedicated to priority areas of global cooperation in science and higher education, were held at the Sergey Kuryokhin Centre for Contemporary Art in St Petersburg.

MIEM Tech Day at Pokrovka: Exploring HSE’s Engineering DNA Together
On May 26, 2026, the central atrium of the building at 11 Pokrovsky Bulvar will host the annual large-scale festival of engineering developments created by project teams from the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (HSE MIEM). The programme includes presentations of the best student technological projects, stands from partner companies and joint workshops, a lecture series featuring practising engineers, a round table on the development of engineering education, and presentations of MIEM master’s degree programmes.

Short Film by HSE Film Institute Graduates and Students Featured in Short Film Catalogue at 2026 Cannes Film Festival
The short film Funeral House Life, produced as a graduation project at the HSE Film Institute, has been included in the Short Film Corner catalogue of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. This black comedy by HSE graduates was the only entirely Russian-produced project selected for this year’s programme.

HSE to Bring Together Experts from World’s Leading Universities in St Petersburg
From May 18 to 22, 2026, HSE University–St Petersburg will become a hub of global academic dialogue. International Partners’ Week will bring together more than 100 delegates from 47 universities across 20 countries.

Dancing, Drums, and African Languages: HSE University Holds First Afro Festival
On April 23, 2026 the first large-scale Afro Festival was held in the central atrium of the HSE University Pokrovka building. The event was organised by the African Students Association together with the Support and Career Centre for International Students and Alumni. During the festival, HSE students and staff explored the cultures of African countries by listening to music, dancing, and getting to know one another.

Direct Dialogue with Leading Universities
An HSE delegation has held a series of meetings with leading Chinese universities: Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beihang University, Xi’an Jiaotong–Liverpool University, and Tongji University. The visit programme was organised by the Institute of Education.

HSE and Nazarbayev University: Scientific and Educational Cooperation
In April 2026, HSE University welcomed an official delegation from Nazarbayev University. The visit primarily focused on establishing cooperation between the two universities, expanding partnership ties, and developing joint projects in support of strengthening bilateral relations between Russia and Kazakhstan.

‘Meet Professors, Gain Experience’: Uzbek Lyceum Students Undertake Placement at HSE
The fourth off-site school organised under the Lyceum Classes project has taken place with the support of HSE University and implemented by the HSE Department of Internationalisation. This year, 79 students from International House Tashkent and Interhouse Lyceum came to HSE. The programme includes an introduction to the university, the opportunity to attend classes, and tours around Moscow.
