
HSE Students Among Winners of Yandex High-Tech Startup Accelerator
Yandex has announced the results of its Yandex AI Startup Lab accelerator, whose final round featured 12 IT projects. Over the course of three months, their creators—students and young entrepreneurs—worked alongside the company’s experts to develop their products. Four startups in digital marketing, medicine, and robotics were named the best, with their teams receiving cash prizes and cloud resource grants. Among them was Gradius, a startup founded by students from HSE University.

HSE and Peking University Discuss Prospects for Expanding Cooperation
In Moscow, HSE University’s leadership met with a delegation from Peking University headed by its President, Gong Qihuang. During the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen partnership between the two universities within the framework of the Cross Years of Russian–Chinese Cooperation in Education (2026–2027).

HSE Students Win Gold Medals at International Mathematics Olympiad in Turkmenistan
The VI Open Mathematical Olympiad for University Students (OMOUS-2026) was held in Ashgabat, bringing together teams from Russia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, and the UAE. Around 600 students took part in the competition.

New Master’s Programme from HSE University and SIBUR Bridges Fundamental Science and High‑Tech Industry
HSE University and SIBUR have opened admissions for the joint track ‘New Polymer Materials and Petrochemistry’ within the Master’s programme in Chemistry of Molecular Systems and Materials. The programme will prepare specialists with a solid scientific foundation and the project management skills required in the petrochemical industry. Studies will begin in September 2026 at the HSE Faculty of Chemistry.

A Trap for the Advanced Student: How to Break the Habit of Blindly Trusting Neural Networks
Andrei Ternikov, Associate Professor at the St Petersburg School of Economics and Management at HSE University–St Petersburg, has developed a method for conducting online exams that significantly limits students’ ability to use ChatGPT and other AI models to obtain correct answers. Andrei Ternikov spoke to the HSE News Service about his approach—which won the HSE University Autumn Educational Innovation Competition, received an Alfa Future grant, and was presented at an international conference in Japan.

HSE University–St Petersburg and Shanghai Dragons to Launch Internship Programmes and Courses for Foreigners
HSE University–St Petersburg and the Shanghai Dragons hockey club have signed a cooperation agreement. HSE University–St Petersburg students will be able to undertake internships at various units of the team, conduct sports research, and supplement their portfolios with international projects.

HSE MIEM and MTS Launch Workshop on Innovative Solutions in Communication Networks
The HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM) and MTS are launching a joint workshop in which students will work at the intersection of communications network engineering, data analysis, and digital technologies. The project is designed as a practice-oriented learning format, enabling students to tackle real industry challenges alongside company engineers and MIEM specialists. Registration to participate in the workshop is open until April 15, 2026.

‘A Trademark of Russia as an Educational Power:’ Marking a Decade of the Open Doors Olympiad
An instructional seminar of the Open Doors International Olympiad has been held at HSE University. Approximately 100 representatives of 24 Russian universities involved in organising the olympiad took part in the event. The seminar focused on updating the participants’ profile maps, organising the work of methodological teams in a digital environment, and ensuring the quality of the methodological content for the olympiad.
